How's it going everybody? I'm looking to get into karting, and was hoping to come out to the track to meet some of you guys. I'll be looking to buy a kart, trailer, and some spares and tools once my tax return shows up, but in the meantime, I just wanna get a feel for the scene and see when everybody gets together to race or practice. Hopefully some of you guys can show me the ropes, and I look forward to meeting yall.

Hi Jeffery
What class are you looking at running?

I would love to do rotax, but the lower cost of lo206 is probably a better fit for me.

Cool.
I know several guys will be down there on the 20th clearing the dust off. Three or four of us will probably be down there the 21st as well. I was hoping to get down there this Sunday but, 35 is too damned cold.
But, either way don't be shy. It's really good group of guys and girls running in the Lo206 division. Walk up and introduce yourself. We were all newbies once and all of us are always happy to get new people up and running.

On that note, don't rush off and buy anything before you stop down at the track. One of the guys is likely to have or know of a good kart for sale somewhere. Also, don't be afraid to talk to David down at CMP. They have a good kart shop right at the track (including new in the box 206's) and might have something right there that'll work for you.

See ya at the track
Bruce J

That's all really good to hear. I'll try to come out to the track sometime soon to meet people in person and hopefully find something for sale. Thanks for the advice.

Welcome jeffreyz !..like said in the previous post, dont rush out and buy something just to be buying something. call the track and rent their 206 kart for a race...you will experience racing first hand over their rental karts and know if that is what you want to do. meet the 206 racers there and they will help you in almost any kind of way.

My Birel is for sale!  http://cmp.websitetoolbox.com/post/2008-birel-r31-chassis-plus-perfect-for-lo206-class-7941803?pid=1290984155

Almost a roller but at that price, you'll be up and running on the cheap for sure.  If you're interested let me know and we'll get you setup.  I originally bought this through David at the shop, so it's been a CMP affiliated kart it's entire life!

I've been racing at CMP since I started (this is my fourth full season) and I switched from Rotax (2013 season) to LO206 (2014, 2015, and this year) and I'll never go back.  We have such an awesome group and the 206 is a great class.  Low cost entry, and we just have fun.  I'm still learning and everyone always answers questions and lends a hand.  I'm happy to do the same as well.

Definitely come by and say hi.  Our first race is March 5th, so if you're not sure, come check us out.  And definitely don't be shy.  We're all talkers and love to add more folks to the mix!

I'd love to come out to the race, but I just found out I'll be out of town for work until mid march. If your birel is still available when I get back, I'd love to take a look.

Sure thing!  David from CMP is very familiar with the kart as well.

Let me know when you'll be at the track and I'll make sure I pack the Birel in the trailer!  I may do a test session in late March/early before the April 16th race, so I'll let you know.
